    Construction of Kinniya Kurunchankarni Bridge begins

    On April 10th, State Minister of Rural Roads and other Infrastructure, Nimal Lanza, inaugurated the construction work of the "Kurunchankarni Bridge" across the Kurunchankarni Lagoon on the Kinniya - Kurunchankarni Road in the Muttur Divisional Secretariat Division in the Trincomalee District.

     

    The construction of this bridge was launched conforming with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's National Policy "Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour".

    Upon completion, this bridge will connect the Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha area and the Kinniya Municipal Council area, and the construction of this bridge will ease the transportation of more than 100,000 people. The bridge will be 120 meters long and will cross the Kurunchankarni Lagoon. Furthermore, the estimated cost of the construction is Rs. 750 million and the construction will be carried out in three phases.

    Members of Parliament Kapila Nuwan Athukorala, M. S. Thowfeek, Ishak Rahuman, Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman M. Nihar, Vice President M.H. Sanush, Members of the Pradeshiya Sabha, Director of the Road Development Authority (construction) A.K.D. Tissera and many other officials were present at the event.
