The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment notified that a total of 10 such private hotels and resorts have been chosen in this regard under the approval of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 prevention.

Accordingly, Weligama JagaBay Resort, Neptune Paradise Beach Resort, Hikka  Villa and Coral Reef Guest in Hikkaduwa, Wadduwa Blue Spring, Dickwella Villa Jayananda, Catamaran Beach Hotel in Negombo, Jayanthi Surf Ahangama, and Santan Resort in Tangalle are chosen to arrange the quarantine centers for the migrant workers.

Their hotel bills, food, and other amenities will be covered by the Bureau of Foreign Employment. The Minister said that the Bureau of Foreign Employment spends Rs. 18 million per week to provide the quarantine facilities, thus allocating Rs. 4500 for daily expenses per person. An individual is quarantined at the quarantine centers for a week.

The Labour Minister further added that the General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe (Retd) has advised the Foreign Ministry and Embassies to inform the aforementioned details to migrant workers who are expecting to return to Sri Lanka and upon their return, to direct them to these quarantine centers in groups.

The Minister advised the Foreign Employment Bureau to establish more quarantine centers after a follow-up of the said process and analyzing its progress.
