      Passing out Parade of Direct Entry officers & Commissioning of Service Entry candidates held at NMA

    A colourful ceremony saw the passing out of 13 Direct Entry officers of Executive and Logistic branches from 1/2019 intake and commissioning of 06 Service Entry candidates of 1/2019 batch at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on 11th September 2020. The event was graced by Commander Western Naval Area, as the Chief Guest.

    Addressing the officers being commissioned, the Chief Guest underlined the importance of upholding the core values and ethos in Sri Lanka Navy, as naval personnel. Further, the officers were advised to contribute for uplifting of the image of Sri Lanka Navy with professionalism and competence to safeguard the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Moreover, he urged the passed out / commissioned officers to shoulder responsibilities in fulfilling the desired aspirations of the Navy and the nation.

    Those who excelled during the training were presented with special awards at the ceremony where Sub Lieutenant WHLC Wijerathna was adjudged the Best Direct Entry officer and DCB Jayasinghe won the trophy for the Best Marksman. Meanwhile, RMSK Rathnayake was the Best Service Entry candidate and Best Marksman of the Service Entry batch. Service Entry Candidate RTH Ranjith was awarded with the trophy for Best Sportsman.

    Senior officers from the Navy Headquarters, Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commandant NMA, senior officers of the Eastern Naval Command, parents of passed out and commissioned officers were also present on this occasion.
