The Sri Lanka Tea Board and six leading tea producers in Sri Lanka, namely,Vintage Teas Ceylon Ltd, English Tea Shop, Tea Trends Export Ltd, Dilmah Ceylon Tea, Mlesna Ceylon Ltd, Stassen International Pvt Ltd, and manufacturer of disposal gloves Dipped Products Ltd of the Hayleys Groupcontributed to this generous donation.
Sri Lanka High Commission handed over a consignment of Ceylon tea and glovesto Consultant Respiratory and Head of Respiratory Unit of Medway Hospital in Kent, Dr Gihan Hettiarachchi and his team. Dr Hettiarachchi who was recently featured in the “Good Morning Britain” TV programme was applauded by recovered Covid -19 patients for his professionalism and care towards them and their families during their difficult time.
Afurther donation of Ceylon tea and gloves to Barts Health, the largest NHS Trust in London with 6 partner hospitals including NHS Nightingale Londonhas also been presented.
In a symbolic handover of the items, an assortment of Ceylon tea and a packet of Palm Pro gloves of Hayleyswas also presented by the High Commission to Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth, UN and South Asia at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
TheHigh Commission also assisted the donation of Akbar Premium tea packs by the Conservative Friends of Sri Lanka in the UK to 18 NHS Hospitals.
These donationsareemblematic of Sri Lanka’s commitment to the longstanding bilateral relations with the UK.
