Since explosive fishing can wreak havoc on the marine ecosystem, the Navy is frequently conducting operations to thwart such illegal attempts. Accordingly, the Navy conducted this search operation in Aliyawalai area, Jaffna and apprehended a suspect with 10 non electric detonators, 01 water gel charger and a 2.75ft - long safety fuse.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of the same area, aged 23. The accused along with explosive items were handed over to the Palai Police for onward investigation.
