Cabinet approval has been granted for the issuance of e-passports, said Co-Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Ramesh Pathirana.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet briefing (30) he said that this would make it easier for the Immigration and Emigration Department as well as the public.
Minister Pathirana noted that the Cabinet paper was submitted in March by Minister Chamal Rajapaksa as the State Defence Minister.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
