The Samurdhi grant of Rs. 5000 distributed among low-income beneficiaries has been completed, according to the Director-General of the Samurdhi Development Department Bandula Tillakasiri.
Addressing the media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday (15) he said that including those on the waiting list, 2,405,001 beneficiaries had been paid over 12,025 million by yesterday, and measures had been taken to pay 3,400 million in benefits for the month of April.
DG Tillakasiri also stated that under the current situation, over 25,000 of the Samurdhi officers in their network are ready to support the initiatives taken by the government.
