The Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe confirmed the death of the third Covid-19 patient who had succumbed to the illness last night. The victim is a 73-year-old male from Maradana.
He was receiving treatment at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital and it had been confirmed that he had been infected with the Coronavirus only yesterday.
Having confirmed his infection he was transferred to the IDH, but he was pronounced dead on admission.
This patient had been suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease for a long period.
However, he had only entered hospital when his condition was very serious.
