The exhibition is organized under the guidance of Minister of Information and Mass Media and Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation Dr. Bandula  Gunawardena, in collaboration with the Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma and under the chairmanship of State Minister of Technology and Innovation Thilanga  Sumathipala. All institutes coming under the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation and State Ministry of Technology and Innovation in collaboration with the  Ministry of Education will take part in showcasing the exhibits under different zones.

Dr. Gunawardena also said that 1200 innovations from 400 schools including Northern and Eastern provinces will be exhibited at the INNOTECH 2020. The exhibition will be held  from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. every day. Dr. Gunawardena pointed out that special transport arrangements will be made available for the general public who are willing to attend the  exhibition.

Explaining the objective of INNOTECH 2020, Dr. Gunawardena said that their main intention is to showcase the research and development outcomes and innovations of the  institutes and universities operating under the purview of the Ministry and promoting science literacy at all levels of the society. The exhibition will also be a platform for schools  and university students, tertiary and higher educational institutes to popularize their inventions and create enthusiasm amongst younger generation to engage in science and initiate  startups based o new inventions and innovations.

Dr. Gunawardena said that no entrance fee will be charged from the general public. The Minister also said that they are hoping to continue the exhibition annually and use its income  to strengthen the Mahapola scholarship fund.
