The Chief Incumbent of Maharagama Siri Vajiragnana Dharmayathanaya and Senior Advisor of the Supreme Council of the Amarapura Dharmarakshitha Maha Nikaya, Most Venerable Ampitiye Rahula Maha Thero (106) passed away this morning.
He was the co-founder of the Maharagama Bhikku Training Center in 1958 along with late Most Venerable Madihe Pannaseeha Maha Nayaka Thero and also was the teacher of many Maha Theros including Maharagama Dhammasiri, Gangodawila Soma and Thirikunamale Ananda.
The remains will be at Maharagama Dharmayathanaya until 19th and then will be brought to Vajiraramaya of Bambalapitiya for public respect. Cremation Ceremony will be held on the 20 th , and details will be notified later.
