The Attorney General has concluded a total of 16,647 criminal cases in the year 2019 and forwarded 9,851 indictments to the High Court, according to the AG’s Coordinating Officer Nishara Jayaratne. The State Counsel further stated that within this year, the Attorney General has discharged 2,957 suspects and forwarded advice to the Police in 3,568 criminal cases.
