    HE the President Opens Army-Erected Three-Storied 'Dharmashala' in Kandy

    The three-storied preaching hall (Dharmashalawa) in the ordainment premises of the Sangha), erected and partly-renovated by Corps of Engineer Service (CES) troops of the 11 Division at Warathenna Ordainment premises in Kandy was ceremonially opened on Wednesday (3) by HE the President Maithripala Sirisena.


    The building houses the Sri Lanka Amarapura Shasana Jothika Sangha Sabha Headquarters of the Udarata Amarapura Sect and the requirement for its construction was approved by the Commander of the Army after a request to that effect was forwarded to him by the Mahanayaka of Udarata Amarapura Maha Nikaya a few months back. The unveiling of a plaque and a subsequent 'Daham' meeting marked the
    event.


    Army troops continuously carried out this construction work in the 'Seemamalaka' premises of the temple and troops effectively brought it to the completion well ahead of the given deadline. The event was graced by chief monks of the Amarapura sector, members of the Maha
    Sangha, Ministers, State Officials, Major General Tissa Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division, 111 Brigade Commander, Senior Officers, Officers and a large crowd of devotees attended the opening ceremony.
