At the invitation of President Maithripala Sirisena, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak will undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from 17th-19th December.

The visit is of special significance in the context of the growing bilateral partnership between the two countries, and in the backdrop of Sri Lanka and Malaysia celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

During the visit, the Malaysian Prime Minister will be received at the Presidential Secretariat on the morning of 18th December with an official guard of honour and gun salute that will be followed by official bilateral discussions covering a wide range of subjects.

Three MoUs will be signed in Science, Technology and Innovation; Bio-Economy Development Cooperation; and Training for Diplomatic Personnel; and a special stamp and a first day cover will be released to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in the presence of the two leaders.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, discussions are scheduled to focus on economic cooperation and trade and investment between the two countries. The Malaysian Prime Minister will participate in a roundtable meeting with Sri Lankan investors and businessmen as well.
