Authorities are to introduce tougher restrictions on usage of polythene during the upcoming Sri Pada season.

Accordingly, solid waste including plastic water bottles will not be allowed to be taken to the sacred Sri Pada area.

New regulations imposed on polythene by the government will be strictly implemented this season.

Raids have been organized to check polythene carriers from Maskeliya town to Nallatanniya and along the pathway to the sacred peak.
