Government to improve the quality of service provided by Registrars

    October 13, 2017

The government will take steps to improve the quality of the service provided by the Registrars of Birth, Marriage and Death who are dedicated to provide a legal service to the public.

Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardena made these comments attending the annual get together of Colombo district registrars of Birth, Marriage and death at Battaramulla recently.

He said that it is an honorary service but we have not given it due recognition. The government has planned to implement a proper scheme for all registrars and to recognize the service done by registrars. In addition, the government is planning to improve the quality of this service. The minister said that this registration started during the time we were a colony and still the same system continues with slight changes. Therefore the government is looking at the possibility of providing a qualitative service to the public.
