Deputy Minister of Media Lasantha Alagiyawanna said that laws and standards should be brought for teledramas as telecasting of foreign teledrama and films on local channels has posed a great challenge for the local industry.
Deputy Minister Alagiyawanna answering a question for oral answers today (22nd Sept.) in parliament said that there was no monitoring of teledramas in the country and added that steps would be taken in a fair manner to collect taxes from all parties through the new budget.
Though the tax was imposed in 2006 it is not clear on how to charge it. We want to clear all the doubts, said the minister.
