The minister gave these instructions at a meeting he had yesterday (28th Aug.) with the IGP Pujith Jayasundera and other senior police officials.

Minister Ratnayake pointed out that the current promotion procedure causes many injustices to the police officers. This has resulted in discouraging police officers from doing their duty with enthusiasm.

Accordingly, the minster instructed to take a decision on the promotion procedure within the next four months after discussing with the National Police Commission.
