He said that there is a big issue about introducing a regulatory method to stop the taking of ransom in the transport sector.

He further added that under the good governance government no permits will be given under hand and therefore the due tender process should be followed.

According to the minister, he has taken a policy decision not to increase the fleet of SLTB busses. The fleet of private busses is also sufficient according to the number current commuters. Therefore, he requested the Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authorities not to issue route permits for private buses under political influence but where it is necessary.
