A tyre manufacturing plant will be started tomorrow (5th Jan) in Horana. In addition a glove manufacturing company will be started in the Koggala Free Trade Zone. The 12 acre factory will generate 7000 job opportunities, said the Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratna.
The minister said that 24 medical companies will start operations as Joint ventures or sole investments this year. Already two companies have started operations. Minister Senaratna was confident that once the companies are in full operation 75 percent of the drug requirement can be made in the country.
He said an indian has asked for 7,000 acres where all the infrastructure will be developed by him. He has promised to bring seven large drug manufacturing companies to the country.
