The Tsunami was occurred on 26th December in 2004, destroying thousands of lives.

Accordingly, the National Disaster Management Center requested the public to observe a two – minute silence this morning. In addition, the religious observations and awareness programs will also be held at the all 25 district disaster management centers.

Subsequent to the Tsunami Disaster in 2004, the 26th December was declared as the ‘National Safety Day’.
