Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa addressing a press conference yesterday (01) said that new process allows the committees headed by MPs to individually question the officers regarding the financial management.

Minister speaking on bribery and corruption pointed out the government is taking legal actions to minimize the bribery and corruption. “The people's expectations are fulfilled by doing it in a very democratic way”, minister said.

According to the Minister, the government has already initiated programs to solve the farmers’ problems, to introduce a bank loan system for building store houses, to bring the excess harvest to the export market, and to economically strengthen the farmers.

The acting Chief Minister of the Western Province Gamini Thilaksiri was also present.
