Indigenous people in Dambana receive a Reverse Osmosis plant

    November 30, 2018

The 534th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant installed by the Sri Lanka Navy was recently declared open for the use of indigenous people (Veddas) in Dambana. Going by the visionary concept of the President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena to enhance facilities of welfare and preventative matters to patients affected with Chronic Kidney Disease, the Navy’s Research and Development Unit takes much interest in installation of these units across the country, in coordination with the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease.

Accordingly, the 534th unit of that kind was ceremonially declared open by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the famous vedda village of Dambana in Badulla on 24th November 2018.

Chief of the indigenous community, Wishwa Keerthi Wanaspathi Uruwarige Wannila Aththo, Commander Southeastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera, Director Naval (Research and Development) Captain Lasith Gunasekara, Commanding Officer SLNS Mahanaga, Captain Nishantha Ranaweera and a large number of indigenous people were present on this occasion.
