President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Treasury Secretary Dr.P.B.Jayasundara to release necessary funds to relevant authorities to provide financial and material assistance to people in the drought affected areas. Accordingly those affected will be provided with dry rations and financial assistance.

August 30, 2014Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa participated as the Chief Guest att the handing over of 100 new buses to the 10 depots in the Badulla and Moneragala Districts. The busses will be distributed to the depots of Badulla, Bandarawela, Keppetipola, Mahiyanganaya, Siyambalanduwa, Kataragama, Wellawaya, Bibile, Moneragala and Dehiattakandiya.
