Several Development Programmes by NGOs in the Nuwara Eliya District
December 16, 2014Monitoring of the development work of the Non Governmental Organizations in the Nuwara Eliya District was held recently under the patronage of Additional District Secretary. The Non-Governmental Organizations carry out development work with regard to estate community in a formal way, under the supervision of the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat. As an outcome of this, several rural development projects that have already been carried out by the World Vision organization were inspected.
LTTE nurtures an idea of North-Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka
December 16, 2014While seeking to extend the ban on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government told a tribunal that the banned outfit nurtures an idea of “greater Tamil Nadu, which includes the state of Tamil Nadu, part of Kerala, part of Karnataka, part of Andhra Pradesh and northeastern provinces of Sri Lanka”, Indian media reported.
CMC 2015 Budget passed with a majority of 30 votes and 1 vote against
December 16, 2014The 2015 Budget of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) presented by Mayor A.J.M.Muzammil was passed with a majority of 30 votes.
Gunmen in Pakistan took hundreds of students and teachers hostage on Tuesday in a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar, military officials at the scene said. Reports say 5 students have been killed and 45 injured in the attack. Meanwhile, some media reports from out of Pakistan says at least 12 students have been killed, all boys.
