GL to meet his Indian counterpart, today
July 11, 2014Prof.G.L.Peiris who is currently in India on a two day official visit will meet his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj today. This is the first official discussions between the two ministers after the new Indian government came to power in May 2014.

July 10, 2014President Mahinda Rajapaksa who visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic this morning (10). After participating in religious observances, the President called on the Most Ven. Tibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter and the Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhita Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter and received their blessings.
Historic Lanka-Belarus economic pact inked in Colombo
July 11, 2014The historic Sri Lanka-Belarus Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation successfully concluded today 10 July in Colombo. Thanks to the meet, the first ever Lanka-Belarus vehicle manufacturing venture is now a reality-with more Belarusian investments on the pipeline. “With the success of this event, without any doubts we are now at a new level of close cooperation with Sri Lanka. As a result of today’s positive outcome we are now planning to bring both our Foreign Minister and President of Belarus to Sri Lanka as the next step in our on-going cooperation efforts” said B. Rybakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Thursday (10).
