A programme to distribute funds for soil conservation, among tea small holders in Belthara Elpitiya District was held under the auspices Parliament Reforms and Mass Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka, recently.
Around 300 Tea small holders in the areas of Wattahena and Porogama were benefitted from the programme.
A majority of Sri Lanka's tea smallholdings (approximately 80%) are below one acre. Many tea smallholdings are half acre or quarter acre plots and are a primary source of income for families.
