The Divi Neguma Department has initiated a Foster Parent Scholarship programme titled 'Sisu Diriya' to award scholarships to students from low income families. The Department expects to award 14,000 scholarships to selected students throughout the island.
The main event will be held at the Auditorium of the Colombo National Museaum (08) under the patronage of Director General of the Divineguma Department. At this main ceremony 400 selected students from various parts in the country will be awarded with Foster Parent scholarships.
A foster parent (a mother or a father) can contribute Rs.500 per month initially for a period of one year for this scholarships programme that is being implemented throughout the country at national level.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
