The prevailing drought in the northern, eastern and north central provinces will end by the end of this month with the onset of inter monsoonal rains, Meteorology Department said.
According to the Deparment, the country is currently experiencing the South-Western monsoon season which brings rain to the south-west of Sri Lanka between May and September. The temperature in the drought hit areas was 33 to 34 centigrade during the past few days.
The prevailing weather condition will change by the end of this month and showers can be expected in drought affected areas.
