The Met Dept. said that on the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 28th of August and 07th of September in this year.

The Met Dept. also predicts several spells of showers to occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa & central provinces and in the Galle & Matara districts. Showers can be expected at several places in the Northwestern province too.

Thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the period from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Southwest monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the country (particularly over central hills) and Northwestern & Southeastern sea areas.
