    General Election campaigns were eco-friendly - CEA

    The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) Chairman Prof.Lal Mervin Dharmasiri said it was a good sign to see the politicians, their supporters and the public showing an interest on the best environmental practices during the election period.  He thanked the Election Commissioner, all political leaders and all those who contributed to conduct election campaigns through modern and eco-friendly methods including social networks, media, telephone, internet, email, face book which are more cost effective and environment friendly.

    The Central Environment Authority created awareness among the Election Commissioner and party leaders on the national importance of running the election campaigns of the recently concluded General Election of August 17 in an eco-friendly manner.
     


    Dharmasiri reiterated that this approach towards an eco-friendly election campaigning mechanism which was acceptable to Sri Lankan politicians and their supporters is a welcome sign of entering a sound political system.
