Also action has been taken to close all liquor shops, meat and fish stalls in Kandy Gangawata Korale Division from August 20 -30, Hitisekara further said.
These measures were revealed at the Progress Review Meeting of the Esala Perahera Coordinating Committee held at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
A special traffic plan will be in operation during Perahera time and all traffic entering the city wouldl be diverted along alternate routes to minimize traffic congestion in the Kandy City from August 20.
Special CTB as well as private buses will be deployed for the convenience of the spectators visiting Kandy for the Perahera.. Also at the end of the perahers a special train will leave for Colombo from the Kandy station at 11.45 pm. and extra trains also will be deployed.
The Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa and DIG/Central province were also present at the discussion.
