Southwest monsoon winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the country (particularly over central hills) and Northwestern & Southeastern sea areas, the Met Dept. forecasts.
Also showers are expected at times in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Galle & Matara districts as well as at several places in the Western and North-western provinces. Thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces during the period from 2 pm to 8 pm, the Met Dept. adds.
