The Met Dept. in its weather forecast issued at 12 noon today says that Southwest monsoonal winds may strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the country (particularly over central hills) and Northwestern & Southeastern sea areas.
Also there will be few showers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern provinces and in the Galle, Matara districts. Thundershowers may develop at several places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces during the period from 2 pm to 10 pm.
Temporary localized strong winds may occur during thundershowers., the Met Dept. further says. General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
