Elaborating on the purpose of the project in her welcome address Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority said that, RVSA encourages children of War Hero families to get proper education and bloom as useful citizens to meet the future challenges. A number of projects have been launching in this regard and this is one such projects.
Housing assistance was also granted for 25 war heroes during the occasion.
Speaking at the event State Minister Wijewardene urged students to work hard with determination and emerge as educated citizens of the country. He requested them not to forget their beloved fathers who had sacrificed their life for their tomorrow.
He stressed that, invaluable duty and the responsibility of looking-after these patriotic people and their children are continuously carried out by the Ministry of Defence in association with RVSA. Approval has been granted for the payment of allowances for differently?able heroes even after they reach the age of 55, he also noted.
Further speaking he said that, a Special Ranaviru Rewards Identity Card would be introduced providing an exclusive recognition for War Heroes with a view to expand welfare measures in near future. Meanwhile, State Minister also pledged to increase the existing welfare measures furthermore.
State Secretary of Defence Mr. APG Kithsiri, Vice President of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Directors/Officers of the Tri-Forces and Police welfare directorates, differently-able war heroes and families of scholarship recipients were also present at the occasion.(Defence)
