Strong winds of 60-70 km/h, heavy rain falls

    June 29, 2015

Due to the convergence of wind flow, showery weather will continue in the southwestern part of the country and strong southwesterly winds over the country and surrounding sea areas are expected, the Met Dept. forecasts

There will be showers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Heavy rain falls (more than 100mm) can be expected at some places. Thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the afternoon or evening.

Strong southwesterly winds with speeds about 60-70km /hr will occur over the country (especially over western slope of the central hills) and surrounding sea areas are expected.
