A special programme will be launched to monitor the hygiene and cleanliness of food and beverages served at Poson dansals over the country and already around 8023 dansal have been registered,the Public Health Inspectors' Association Secretary Senerath Bandara told www.news.lk.
He pointed out that Operation Centres of the Association had been set up in sacred religious sites in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Katharagama etc, to inspect food stalls, shops and other pavement hawkers.
He noted that dansal organizers were requested to consult Public Health Inspectors to get their instructions on measures necessary to ensure cleanliness and hygiene of the food before and after preparation.
