Under the influence of Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ, the area where the Northern and Southern hemispheric winds meet),the Met Dept. forecasts the possibility for rain and lightning activities over the country still persists.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island during the afternoon and night.
Heavy rain falls (more than 100 mm) are also expected at some places.
There will be showers at Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Northwestern and Northern provinces during the morning too.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
