    Rosy and Japanese Ambassador holds special discussion

    A special meeting took place between the State Minister for Children's Affairs Ms.Rosy Senanayake and Japanese Ambassador Ms.Hito Hobo at the Ministry yesterday (11).

     
    The Japanese Ambassador explained future activities that could be taken to strengthen the institutional framework of the Ministry and affiliated institutions by raising funding through UNICEF. 
     
     
    The  points discussed at the meeting included obtaining technical assistance to prevent child abuse and  counselling service, infrastructure facilities such as buildings to carry out these services, funding from UNICEF to carry out workshops to educate the groups that get involved in child development and protection activities, donations to carry out programmes related to child affairs in the North and the East, eradication of child abuse and cruelty.
     
     
     It was also discussed to enhance the hotline 1929 established to speak up against child cruelty. 
     
     
    The Japanese Ambassador also invited Minister Rosy Senanayake to represent Sri Lanka at the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo from August 28 and 29.
