The New Year festival, which is organized by the Welfare Society of the Government Information Department for the forth time, will be held today (25) at the departmental premises.
The Festival, presided by Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka, will comprise many events such as the marathon, tug-of-war, beauty queen contest, folk games, and fancy dress competition etc.
The New Year Festival is held under the guidance of the Acting Director General of Government Information Mrs. K.W.T.N Amarathunaga and many officials and staff of the Department as well as the Ministry of Mass Media and Information will participate in the celebrations
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
