The government has increased the standard price for rubber. Honoring a pledge given in the interim budget, the Government commenced to pay Rs 350 for RSS 1 - 2 , Rs 340 for RSS 3 - 4 and Rs 300 for RSS 5 - 6 for each kilogram of rubber, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dr Harsha De Silva said.
The Government has taken steps to resolve many issues faced by the people engaged in the rubber industry. The Government has allocated more than one billion rupees to provide the guaranteed price of 350 rupees for rubber.
He further said that during the recent past, providing relief for the rubber industry was limited only to words.
