The government has taken steps to increase the Bursary payment of Universities from 2,000 rupees to 2,500 rupees with effect from May 01, 2015, Presidential Advisor Tilak Ranaviraja said this morning at a media conference held at the Government Information Department.
It was proposed in the 2015 Budget to increase the Mahapola Scholarship payment to 5,000 rupees with effect from 1 July in order to create an atmosphere of confidence among the student population and increase the Bursary payment from 2,000 rupees to 2,500 rupees.
He said that the Government has decided to increase the Mahapola scholarship and Bursary payment with effect from May 2015.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
