The harvesting of sugar cane for the fourth crushing season of the Hingurana Sugar Factory commenced yesterday, in the Norochcholai area in Deegawapi after the conduct of religious rites.The production target of the new crushing season is 20,000 metric tons.
The Hingurana Sugar Factory which was not in operation for 13 years was revived by the Galoya Plantations Company. The Factory is due to be opened on the 24th of this month for production.
Among those who joined in the harvesting of sugar cane was the Chief Executive Officer of the Gal Oya Company Gamini Ratnayake.
