Honoring a pledge given in the interim budget, the Government commenced to pay 350 rupees for each kilogram of rubber. The inauguration ceremony was held in Mawanella Town under the patronage of Minister Lakshman Kiriella.
The Government has taken steps to resolve many issues faced by the people engaged in the rubber industry. Minister Kiriella said that the Government has allocated more than one billion rupees to provide the guaranteed price of 350 rupees for rubber.
He further said that during the recent past, providing relief for the rubber industry was limited only to words.
