“I am deeply saddened to learn the passing away of Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Maha Nayaka Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter of Sri Lanka. He was a monk who treated one and all equally shedding all man made differences of caste and creed,” Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Rauff Hakeem said in a message.
The message adds “I wish to record with gratitude the assistance he extended whenever I appealed him seeking his advice and guidance. His guidance enlightened my political career.” “I also valued the stand the late Thera took to ensure national, social and religious amity and always stood for social justice, peace and harmony,” the message said.
