    Bhutan PM visits Kelaniya Temple

    The Prime Minister of Bhutan on Thursday visited the Kelaniya Temple and secured blessings after engaging in religious observances.

    Religious observances were officiated by Ven. Professor Kollupitiye Sangarakhitha Thero,Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.

     

    Prime Minister Tobgay offered flowers at the ‘chaitya’, paid homage to the Buddha and paid respects to the ‘bodhi’.

     

    Prime Minister Tobgay following his visit to the Kelaniya Temple has posted a photo taken of the Foundation Stone laid for the temple's Bodhiprakara by the King of Bhutan Jime Singyey Wangchuck on 19th August 1976.

     

    The following is the comment he has posted on his face book:

     

    "Here's what the Chief Priest of Gangaramaya Temple proudly showed us. The foundation stone gave rise to an elegant temple structure protecting the beautiful, and spiritually powerful Bodhi tree."
