    Fully fledged General Hospital in Hambantota

    The Govenment has taken steps to establish a fully fledged state-of-the-art General Hospital in Hambantota at a cost of Rs 7 billion.

    This hospital will cater to the growing requirements in health care in three districts - Moneragala, Hambantota and Ratnapura.

     

    The project funded by the Netherlands Government will have a 900 bed capacity and will be set up on a 10 acre land. The family members of patients who obtain treatment for a long period will also be able to stay with their kith and kin. The 10-storied building complex will consist of different zones for residential and infrastrcture facilities.

     

    The Project Director said that a similar hospital is functioning in Singapore. Upgrading facilities and introduction of advanced methods are an urgent need to cater to the country's the large scale development and population increase,the Project Director said.

     

    The master plan also provides for future expansion to be compatible with the overall quality of the proposed complex, he added.
