Slight chances of showers at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Hambantota via Trincomalee and Pottuvil, the Met Dept. predicts in its weather forecast for next 24 hours commencing 12 noon today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night, the Met Dept. adds.
The release further states that winds will be Easterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph and there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
Sea areas around the island will not be rough, but can be temporarily rough during the thundershowers.
