Among other sports, such as Football, Squash and Hockey in Pakistan the most popular sport is cricket while the traditional sport in that country is Kabaddy. Besides these sports, the people of Pakistan take interest in Badminton, Baseball, Athletics, Boxing, Chess, Cycling, Gymnastic, Golf, Rugby and Tennis.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan Government expects to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in order to develop sports focusing on exchange of teams, sports training programmes and officials, equipment required for development of sports related programmes. The MoU also includes participation in events selected on mutual invitations by both countries.
According to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding the hosting country should bear the cost of accommodation, subsistence allowance, local transport and incidental medical charges in respect of the country to be hosted other than the air-fare. Through this Memorandum of Understanding opportunities ould be available for the Sri Lankan sportspersons, coaches sports specialists and officers to participate in sports training programmes and events and exchange experiences, programmes, talents and techniques, know-how .and information between two countries. In turn, it will encourage those who are engaged in the field of sports and would pave way for reaching its heits.
