He emphasized this on Saturday (14) at the ceremony to handovers a project of nearly 1000 houses under Ilavalai North-West housing project in Jaffna.
The project has undertaken by India for re-establishment of the families which were affected by natural calamities. The houses were built with Indian assistance as part of India's efforts to help in the reconciliation process.
While Indian PM Modi’s two-day trip to the island, his visit of Tamil-dominated Jaffna is the first visit an Indian prime minister to Northern Province.
Modi said that the houses are not merely buildings of bricks but a sign of unity and connectivity between India and Sri Lanka and these houses are an effort to make the lives of those who have suffered happier.
He showcased his glad on this program by saying that my final public program during my Sri Lanka visit is one to wipe tears from the eyes of those who suffered.
PM Modi states his expectation that further this housing project will diffuse for building 27,000 houses in second phase especially as an effort to illuminate the futures of children from beneficiary families from these houses.
He said 45,000 homes for Northern and 20,000 for Central and Uva Provinces will be built for the benefit of displaced persons in the next phases of this project.
Finally PM Modi assured that India will always be prepared to help Sri Lanka in every possible way.
