Japan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Minoru Kiuchi met the Minister of Media and Parliamentary Affairs Gayantha Karunatilleke on Saturday at the Ministry.
The discussions were centered on media freedom and related media technical developments since the change of the government.
This was the first bilateral visit at the ministerial level of the Government of Japan since the establishment of the new administration in Sri Lanka in January this year. Mr.Minoru Kiuchi was in Sri Lanka from 6-7 March.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
